With «Entre Noticias» a small but committed group of collaborators of this Website share a desire to fly «behind the news» in the conviction that as members of society we have had an adulterated vision of human communication imposed upon us.
In my first column I would like to begin with a greeting and a manifesto to explain the motivation for undertaking this new project and — more importantly –how YOU, our brave audience, are an essential part of the whole process.

Why «Entre Noticias», some friends asked. They weren’t impressed. «I don’t like it,» one replied. «it doesn’t mean anything to me.» Another said: «Maybe it will better than «Contragolpe» though I didn’t like it either.» But after much consideration I decided to stick with «Entre Noticias» because my professional life, like the title of the famous novel by Maria Duenas, has been «the time behind the news» always challenging those in the mass media who offer their mouth-full of distortions–in a kind of divinely inspired tone–with the purported creed that the audience should «get what they are asking for.» Yet in contrast to this philosophy these mavens of the media usually end up knowingly giving the public garbage.
Ruben Luengas.com was born as a natural consequence of my prolonged and sustained challenging which turned into my personal indignation. The media titans while asserting a genuine interest in «giving the people what they are asking for» have evidently ignored the facts. Instead they have obfuscated the facts by creating a mental and spiritual prison that they call consensus. This artificial condition aimed at creating compliance and uniformity, in turn, has established a nearly impossible and inescapable dilemma for the information seeking audience. While many are able to ignore the conditions of this virtual prison, there are many who feel more safe and comfortable in this intellectual incarceration which has no locks or bars, nor guards — simply a place where you’re born, reproduce and die, in many cases without even noticing that they are dealing with the conditions of a dungeon. It is like the phrase of famed writer Alejandro Jodorowsky: «Birds born in a cage think flying is an illness.»

This has rendered us bedridden in an intellectual, educational cultural and spiritual paralysis. This condition has stifled our human potential–a potential that works and has been experienced by great people who have spread their wings and have flown towards unimaginable spaces in the name of others who felt more comfortable and safe moving at the ground level.
We believe that today the opportunities for reflection are lacking, effected by the vortex of modern life which suffocates us by the incalculable information that flows instantaneously and without pause. To avoid getting lost in the frenzy, to understand the important events and give them a necessary context it is essential to read between the lines to analyze and discuss things in this new Website.
Our goal is to produce a deep and interpretative journalism which is not presented in isolation or in a unilateral way but includes the participation of our readers. This will permit us to build an important platform of alternative information and communication. This project is also meant as an answer to a lot of people who wrote to me by email and social networks urging and encouraging me with great vitality not to quit in the exercise of an honest journalism that, due to the large quantity of irrelevant and banal news, has been stifled. This site will focus on the context of news that truly affects us individually and collectively so that we may determine the quality of society where we spend our days.
